Motion Computing is currently offering Windows 7 Professional on all of it's rugged tablet PCs. The benefits of using Windows 7 on a mobile PC are substantial, with the operating system offering advanced power management options to optimize performance and battery life based on their intended usage. Motion's C5, F5, LE1700 and J3400 also fully upgradeable to Windows 7 for users looking to take advantage of the increased functionality.

The transition to the new operating system should be painless cost effective for most organizations due to the Windows XP emulation capabilities of Windows 7. Most, if not all, of the programs currently utilized in XP will be fully compatible, which will substantially reduce the cost of upgrading as well the amount of time required for users to become acclimated to the new system.

The ability to work offline and automatically synchronize network files is a huge benefit to those who are regularly traveling from site to site. Users also have the ability to access desktop and network files remotely, substantially increasing mobility.

“Motion customers rely on features that were designed specifically to support computing while walking or standing, enabling users to maximize productivity when away from traditional computing environments,” said Mike Stinson, vice president of marketing for Motion, who also went on to say that “We are enthusiastic about the enhanced functionality offered by Windows 7 and the improvements clearly extend the productivity benefits of taking technology to the point of care or point of service.”

In addition to improved performance and battery life, Windows 7 has greatly improved handwriting recognition software. This is supported by support for 12 languages, fully customizable dictionaries, a virtual keyboard with enhanced text prediction and even the ability to recognize and support mathematical expressions.

Motion's complete line of rugged tablet PCs with Windows 7 are perfect for those in the mobile workforce that need a durable, reliable tablet. The advanced features and functionality offered make it useful in many industries for those who will be both on and off site.
