Reliable wireless communication
By enhancing the driver/firmware of the Wi-Fi module, the WF28 is able to deliver a reliable wireless communication environment through a Single SSID implementation. Only a designated SSID (network) is connected. Other near-by APs (Access Points) are masked and ignored. This approach prevents interference and misconnection with other wireless networks. For multiple AP installations, smooth roaming is a critical element for a successful implementation. The WF28 has enhanced roaming capability at the firmware level. In most cases, roaming across APs can be completed within a second! For large areas with multiple APs, this roaming feature can be crucial in providing robust operations. All of these unique features enable the WF28 to deliver unmatched network reliability when compared with other PDA solutions.

Ease to manage and deploy
To deploy multiple PDAs to a customer site is never an easy task, in particular, the provision of on-going support. With this in mind, the WF28 provides two different modes for support: Administration, and User Modes. System settings and parameters are stored under the Administration Mode and users cannot modify settings without proper authority. In User Mode, applications can only be viewed and executed. Functions such as file copy, music, video, game etc. are all removed. The “ghost” feature enables System Integrators to copy all system settings from one WF28 to another easily so that standardized settings for each PDA can be enforced. For backup batteries, a multi-charger is available as an option. In the case of a machine break-down, spare parts are available for purchase, allowing System Integrators to deliver on-going services for their customers.

Wi-Fi always-on with power saving
Another important feature of the WF28 is the unique Sleep Mode. When it is activated, it can be up to 50 times more efficient than conventional PDAs, all while Wi-Fi stays online with the application. Under this mode, the WF28 can remain on standby for over 8 days! The WF28 comes with a 1200mAh battery standard, with a 1800mAh battery also available. With its power saving Sleep Mode, a single battery can easily support a full day of restaurant operation.

Special features for the industry
The WF28 comes with an extensive list of industry specific features and attachments, for instance vibration alert, signal lighting, Magstripe Card Reader (MSR) with encryption, strip mount etc. All of these unique features allow the System Integrator to enhance their application to best serve their customer needs.
