Tablet computers are the latest trend these days. They are easy to carry, easy to use and relatively cheap. While iPad may have set the bar in terms of price and glamour, other manufacturers have been competing for the second place thus features, prices and pretty much everything else in between that can be placed in their tablets with good features and better price benefit the users in almost everyway. Take the case of tablets that can be used as barcode scanners. This is a breakthrough in the world of pos as it helps streamline work and play all at the same time. Most tablets offer power, safety, portability and manageability that one can not get out of a regular barcode scanner.

While Apple tablets are exclusive, various tablet manufacturers use Android as its operating system for its tablet. Android phones with blue tooth and wifi are the only types of tablet that can be used as barcode scanners though it must be noted that Andorid2.1 up to the latest version of Android can easily be used for this purposes as well. There are also Android tablets that can be used as barcode scanners if they are connected via WiSnap and most these tablet gadgets are the Amazon Kindle, Nook, ICAN, Coby Kyros, Epad and Herotab.
What is amazing about the Android market is its wide array of apps. In order to be used as a barcode scanner, other than the primary requirement of wifi, bluetooth and such, it also needs to have an app that will help one in scanning code. On example is a free app known as the Barcode Scanner App which can handle barcodes, 2DQR codes where the user can look up to the product URL and check its price.

Another Android app that can make any android device turn into a barcode scanner is Android Tapp. This is a free app that can scan books, CDs and many other products that has URLs, contact info, calendar and more. It also has added features like sharing within contact, translation as well as decoding other QR codes.

There are two ways to use this app: the first method is by scanning your monitor where you only need to launch the app and scan your monitor using your tablet. After that you can tapp the "open in market" option and you will automatically be directed into the market. Another way is via lap the link which is perfect if you are looking up at an Android App on your Android Gadget as you will get similar effect.
