On July 26th, 2010, Zebra Technologies released information concerning adding a card laminating component to their award-winning ZXP Series 8 Retransfer Card Printer. This allows the printer to laminate both sides of the printed card simultaneously. The laminating feature adds an additional level of security or protection to the cards and could be useful for federal credentials, state identification, or other areas where a high level of security is essential.
The ZXP Series 8 printer with a laminating component provided a patented low-cost and waste-free solution to the creation of many projects. Some of the projects include; driver's licenses, government and military identification cards, and applications which require tamper-evident and long lasting identification cards.
An additional feature of the ZXP Series 8 printer is the technology that prevents the wear and tear that occurs after prolonged use. Traditional printers print a ribbon of dye directly onto the card which tends to fade over time. The ZXP Series 8 printer prints a transparent film onto the plastic, which is then bound to the card thermally, creating a more vivid image of a drastically higher quality than traditional printers.
Other advantages of retransfer printing including; the ability to print on uneven surfaces, edge-to-edge printing, the ability to use other materials for the cards than just PVC, added durability and fraud protection.
The ZXP Series 8 printer is available in all regions and is sold through Zebra Technologies' vast network.
