The Honeywell MX9 mobile computer uses the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 Professional operating system powered by a PXA320 800MHZ processor. It has 128MB SDRAM, 128MB of flash memory and a SD expansion card expandable to 4GB.

This device has an 6 foot Drop Specification and IP67 rating meaning that it can withstand drops of up to six feet on to concrete as well as the ability to endure 2,000 tumbles from one meter. The Honeywell MX9 operates at temperatures as low as -4°F and as high as 122°F. This handheld device also has built-in heater (optional), a superior resistive touch responsive 3.7 screen and a backlit keyboard, making it ready to take on environmental extremes.

This durability is expertly paired with functionality as this device has multiple radio and wireless features including WWAN radio with GSSM/GPRSI/EDGE, 802.11a/b/g with WPA/WPA2 security and Cisco CCXv4 certification, Bluetooth, and GPS. There are two options for the backlit keyboard, a 62-key alphanumeric keyboard and a 38-key keyboard. Data collection methods include a microphone, standard range laser, all-range laser that can scan distances from 4 inches to 40 feet, 2-dimensional imager, and VGA image capture all with full symbology support.

Standard accessories include a trigger handle, USB and RS-232 adapter cables, stylus, active vehicle cradle, vehicle power port adapter, desktop cradle with spare battery charging, 4-slot battery charger, and a carrying case.
